What UNASB’s All About
What we’re doing in Unfortunately Not A Sound Bath and how you can join us.
We started Unfortunately Not A Sound Bath a year ago, and it has grown beyond anything we could have imagined. Today, UNASB was featured in the New York Times. We’re excited for more people to learn about this space and want to take a minute to lay out UNASB’s purpose and member journey.
Unfortunately Not a Sound Bath (UNASB) is a virtual podcast listening club that meets biweekly to discuss a right-leaning podcast, analyze their messaging and themes, and brainstorm actionable ways for how the Democratic coalition can strengthen its own approach.
We’re not here to stay in our echo chamber or vent about how frustrating the other side is. Nor are we trying to red-pill ourselves into sympathizing with Nazis. But we can’t pretend the content isn’t out there, incredibly popular, and unfortunately persuasive to millions. UNASB is about helping people meet others where they are, challenge harmful narratives, and shape a more progressive culture through connection and conversation.
Ideally, members go through the following journey
Get out of your liberal / media bubble by understanding the content millions of people are consuming every day.
Notice the patterns and techniques right-leaning creators and hosts use to communicate with their audiences.
Apply these learnings to your everyday conversations with your apolitical friends or the MAGA-curious people in your life to have long-term persuasive conversations.
For people who haven’t read EVERY UNASB club recap or op-ed, we’ve compiled a starter guide to dive in

We hope more people learn about the club and understand the importance of talking to people in this moment, understanding what we’re up against, and building community along the way.
